The black bear that was thought to be sighted in Markham earlier this morning turned out to be a 150-pound dog.

CityNews originally reported the story and interviewed the taxi cab driver that spotted what he thought was a bear.

“I was actually right here and the bear was standing right there. He was just looking around,” said Mohammed Naim.

Naim called York region police and they too believed the tracks that were left by the animal to be those of a bear.

As it turns out, those tracks belonged to a black Newfoundland dog. Can you guess what it’s name is? Bear.
