dead ducks

On the morning of November 5, 30 dead ducks and one dead heron were found on Woodbine Beach. Toronto Animal Services have since removed them.

Tests are currently being performed to determine the cause of death. According to a release from the City of Toronto these tests will take approximately two weeks to complete.

The ducks were found near an off-leash area in Woodbine Park. The City of Toronto is asking dog owners to ensure their dogs are leashed in the park, including in off-leash areas, until the cause of death has been determined.

The City is also encouraging dog owners to contact their veterinarian if their dog was in the park on Sunday and is experiencing signs of illness.

Residents of Toronto can report dead wildlife by calling 311 and for more information on wildlife in the city click here.
