Woman recovering from black bear attack

Lynn O’Connor, a 53-year-old woman from Peterborough, is recovering after being attacked and mauled by a bear on Sunday, Sept.29.

The incident happened during a weekend visit to the family cottage in Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township while walking her dogs on a trail.

“I thought that was it,” said her husband, Jerry O’Connor, to media about what he saw when he arrived on the scene of the attack. “Her stomach was open, her legs…it was just awful.”

O’Connor is recovering and the family has told local media that they don’t plan on returning the cabin anytime soon.
