The Trent-Severn Waterway will open on schedule this Victoria Day long weekend for the first time since 2019.
The opening of the 386-kilometre waterway was delayed until May 28, 2021 because of an extended provincial stay-at-home order, while a pandemic-related Parks Canada service suspension delayed opening until June 1, 2020.
Hours of operation
Lockstations will open from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. this Friday, May 20. From May 23 to June 19, they will open from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday to Sunday. From June 20 to Sept. 5, lockstations will open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday to Sunday.
Some restrictions remain
Some COVID-19-related restrictions remain in place.
For example, capacity for camping at lockstations will be at the discretion of lockmasters, who will determine appropriate social distancing, officials stated on May 16. Drive-up camping also remains suspended.
Bookings for reservable camping, oTENTIks, Oasis, and the cabin can be made on the Parks Canada Agency Reservations System.
