Tom Horvat, from Hamilton, headed to Manitoulin Island with his father and two of his father’s friends this year during rifle season.
The gun season there is from Nov.18 until Nov.23 and the crew went up for the last bit of the week.
Tom, a new bowhunter, took his bow in addition to his rifle. His first day out, a big buck kept coming in out and of site. Unfortunately for Tom, he didn’t come close enough for a clean shot with the bow. But, he did come close enough for Tom’s father to shoot with his rifle the next day.
Tom ended up getting this nice doe in the same spot he watched the buck on his first day out.
