One of the biggest changes is to the province’s new Fish and Wildlife Licensing Service.

New family fishing opportunities

No fishing licence is required for Canadian residents on the following new dates. These are in addition to others already established. See the regs for details.

  1. Mother’s Day Weekend (May 11-12, 2019)
  2. Father’s Day Weekend (June 15-16, 2019)

Zone 7

New waterbody exception

Borealis Lake (49°00’43”N., 86°44’08”W.)

  1. Live fish may not be used as bait or possessed for use as bait
  2. Fish sanctuary – no fishing from Jan. 1 to July 31 and Oct. 16 to Dec. 31
  3. Aurora Trout – open from Aug. 1 to Oct. 15
  4. Aurora Trout – S-1 and C-0

Zone 8

New Lake trout exceptions

(open all year)

  1. Eva Lake (Clear Lake) (49°15’11”N., 83°13’42”W.) – Nansen Township
  2. Nansen Lake (49°14’54”N., 83°13’36”W.) – Nansen Township
  3. Smith Lake (49°54’32”N., 82°59’36”W.) – Howells Township

Lake 57 (48°17’N., 80°40’ W.) – Timmins Township

  1. Live fish may not be used as bait or possessed for use as bait
