a pile of $100 bills
The town of Killaloe — all 700 people — has been in a bit of a tizzy since word got out that one of its residents won the $15 million Lotto Max jackpot on Friday, Sept. 13.

Ottawa media outlets are reporting that the man’s name is Delmer Hartwig. While the residents of the town, located southwest of Pembroke, have nothing but nice things to say about the 54-year old gravel truck operator, the media have yet to speak with the man himself. That’s because he’s elk hunting. He will cash in his prize when he gets back.

“Well the elk hunt only comes once a year, eh?” Hartwig’s step-father, Winston Wills told CTV Ottawa.

His sister-in-law, Veronica Hartwig, confirmed with the Ottawa Citizen that he didn’t want to cancel his long-planned trip.

Sounds like a man with his priorities in place.
