Free Fishing Fathers Day Bass

The province is offering licence-free fishing for Ontario residents on June 15 and June 16 2024 for Father’s Day weekend.

Free fishing is one of four annual initiatives aimed at encouraging folks enjoy our natural resources, with Family Fishing Weekend (February 17, 18, 19) and Mother’s Day weekend (May 11 and 12) behind us, as well as with Family Fishing Week (June 29-July 7) to look forward to in 2024. Participating anglers need to observe Conservation slot sizes as well as carry government-issued photo ID stating their name and birthdate. Ordinarily, residents between the ages of 18 and 65 need an outdoors card and valid fishing licence, but veterans and Canadian Armed Forces may fish without them.

Fishing is a fun activity for everyone in the family and it’s a great way to spend time together, so I encourage you to cast a line June 15 and 16 to celebrate Father’s Day,” Minister of Natural Resources Graydon Smith stated in a release.

Over one million licensed anglers spend $1.75 billion on recreational fishing each year.
