Retriever enthusiasts from the Lake Ontario Hunting Retriever Club (LOHRC) gathered in Bethany recently to participate in Hunting Retrieving Club (HRC) hunt tests.
Forty handlers and dogs from most of the popular retriever breeds tested against club standards to achieve ribbons in the started, seasoned and finished classifications.
The weekend was a great opportunity for gun dog enthusiasts to shake off the long winter, share a meal and discuss their common love of hunting and excellent dog work.
The LOHRC is a provincial chapter of the greater Hunting Retriever Club (HRC). Anyone looking to learn and get more from their dogs should consider checking out HRC events.
The Ottawa Valley HRC is holding its tests on Aug. 8 and 9; The Luther Marsh HRC tests are on Aug. 22 and 23, and Georgian Bay HRC has its tests at Tiny Marsh on Sept. 5 and 6.
