Q: Is a skunk “dispatch pole” legal for use on skunks in Ontario? There are many (likely American) videos of them being used on YouTube.
Sheldon Gerber, Lanark
A: Generally speaking, these would not be legal to use to dispatch a skunk, as the method of killing is actually the injection of poison into the animal. The use of poison to kill wildlife is prohibited by subsection 29(1) of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1997.
