moose species

Q: While moose hunting from a tree stand with a rifle, can I also carry a crossbow for deer, effectively hunting for both species?

Andy Soan, Nilestown

A: If the deer season that is open allows rifles and bows, then yes, you may carry a rifle for moose and a crossbow for deer. However, if it is a rifle season for moose and a bows-only season for deer, then you cannot be in possession of a rifle while hunting deer, which means that you could not be in a tree stand with a rifle for moose and a crossbow for deer. You could hunt both species, however, with the crossbow.
