A rendition of a trio of wood ducks sitting atop a tree trunk on a foggy morning will adorn this year’s Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp and print. The image was painted by Pierre Girard from Sorel-Tracy, Quebec.
Girard’s painting entitled “Autumn Colors — Wood Duck” is the 34th piece of artwork selected by Wildlife Habitat Canada (WHC) since its establishment in 1984.
The painting will be featured on the conservation stamp that is affixed to 2018 Canadian migratory game bird hunting permits, and will be sold as prints.
The stamps are also bought by collectors each year for their beautiful depictions of North American waterfowl.
As always, WHC will use funds collected from the sale of stamps and prints to provide conservation grants across the nation. WHC has given more than $50 million to conservation projects since 1985. In the past five years alone, the program has contributed to over 1,200,000 acres of habitat conservation, enhancement, and restoration.
