Ontario OUT of DOORS Assistant Editor Steve Galea and contributor Jason Forde were among the winning writers as the Professional Outdoor Media Association of Canada (POMAC) announced its 2025 award winners on Thursday, June 12.

In National Communication Awards, Galea won third place in the Column category for his My Outdoors instalment, “Mythical creatures,” in the August 2024 issue, and third place in the Hunting Feature category for “The state of coyotes” in the Jan.-Feb.2024 issue.

Forde won second place in the first Editor’s Choice Award for “Destination Maitland” from the Fall 2024 issue.

OOD Editor/Associate Publisher Ray Blades appreciated the recognition. “It’s rewarding to see some of our fantastic writers being recognized for their work by their peers on a national stage,” he said.

OOD contributor Linda Gabris also won first place for “Wild Harvest BC” in the Books category.
