Jason Clay and Matt Belzil definitely proved that autumn is big bass time at the Barrie Bassmaster Lake Simcoe Fall Brawl held October 13, 2018.  Their tournament winning 5-bass limit of 29 pounds took a backseat to Clay’s giant 8.35-pound smallmouth. The monster fish became the heaviest bass weighed in the tournament.

“That bass was so thick. It was over 4 inches wide across the back,” said Clay. “It was between 23 to 24 inches long.” Clay hooked the new tournament record by fan casting a ½-ounce Freedom Football Swing head jig teamed with a 4.8-inch Jackall Rhythm Wave swimbait in prism shad in 35 feet of water.
