The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) is proposing changes to the penalties for failing to submit a mandatory hunting report.
Currently, if a hunter fails to submit a hunter report on two consecutive occasions for the same species, they are locked out — meaning they are prevented from purchasing any relevant product for that species for one year.
The MNR is proposing to eliminate the lock-out penalty and replace it with a graduated financial penalty. A hunter will continue to receive a $25 surcharge penalty fee for each failure to submit a mandatory report. Under this proposal, for a second consecutive failure to report for the same species, a hunter would receive a $50 surcharge penalty. The hunter would continue to pay the $50 penalty until they submit a report for that species.
The full proposal for penalties can be viewed here: https://ero.ontario.ca/notice/019-8896.
The deadline for comments is October 1.
How about you guys do your own job I’m all for the mnr personal but this ministry is a government disgrace Graydon conservative party wake up
ANOTHER TAX GRAB…as if there isnt enough for citizens now…they already know if someone bags a deer or moose..REGISTRATION REMEMBER?
I missed the deadline for deer last yr. I tried to fle after but the system wouldn’t allow me. I have no problem
with the fine but if the report is so important to the MNR why can’t it be filed after the due date ?
So non residents who fail to do the survey can just pay a fine and hunt again? What a crock!
First offence… 1 year ban
Second offence … 2 year ban
Third offence… lifetime ban
Time to take action regarding our resources so future ONTARIO generations can have opportunities
Are these 4 comments all that you have received so far? I submitted mine long ago but it’s not up there. I agree with #4, by Rob. But, make it for all hunters, not just non-residents.
