Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) fisheries crews will be monitoring fish populations, taking water samples, and checking for invasive species on Ontario Lakes this summer. The MNR is asking anglers and lake-goers to be mindful of the monitoring areas.
“If you’re on a lake that is being monitored and see MNR buoys, please don’t lift the nets or buoys, and avoid recreational activities between and around the buoys. All nets will be clearly marked,” said a ministry release.
Information gathered through these surveys will aid in fisheries management decisions, including setting seasons and size limits for anglers.
Approximately 143 lakes will be targeted this summer across Ontario.
