Karl sits on a hill atop his Manitoulin Island property where he can observe the wildlife around him in deer stand built from lumber milled on his Woodland Mills HM126 Portable Sawmill.

Sitting in his seat, he points to where he took a buck earlier this year.

“I just put the stand here last summer,” Karl said, noting that it’s a popular whitetail grazing spot.

His son got another deer in the same place a week after he did, and Karl plans on building another hunting blind just like it on his property soon. Karl and his wife Nikki are among the thousands of Woodland Mills’ customers and community members that we are proudly recognizing during our 15th year anniversary. Karl continues to share his new projects and participate in the Woodland Mills Product Owners and Community Facebook group. Anyone is welcome to join and find advice and insights from more than 50,000 knowledgeable, supportive members.

Woodland Mills celebrates 15 years

This year the company is celebrating a significant milestone — its 15th anniversary. Founded in 2009 by Josh Malcolm and Neil Bramley, it has made professional-grade forestry equipment available to landowners and fuelled countless projects from off-grid homesteads to handcrafted kitchens, hunting cabins, and more.

As sawyers, builders, and hunters head deep into the woods, they’ve been hitching up their portable sawmills to bring with them. The company has also continued to evolve its product lineup, offering off-road ATV trailers like the Pathlander and Multilander, wood chippers, log arches, and more.

Plenty to celebrate and more to come

To celebrate a decade and a half of inventing and sharing those inventions with our community, Woodland Mills kicked off a 15-year anniversary campaign.

Central to the anniversary celebration is “Counting the Rings,” a documentary produced by Woodland Mills.

It brings to life the inspiring story of how Josh and Neil transitioned from childhood friends to business partners, united by their passion for engineering and building. The documentary provides an intimate look at the company’s growth from an initial phone call to occupying 100,000 square feet of operating space across North America.

Josh Malcolm, Co-Founder of Woodland Mills, reflects on the journey: “We are just gaining momentum that I think we can easily build on for another 15 years with new product additions, getting more products to market, and really just listening to that feedback loop we’ve created within our staff and our community.”

Neil Bramley, Co-Founder, added, “Woodland Mills has become a community brand. It’s a large group of people who share common interests: being outside, enjoying the outdoors, building, and creating. We’re happy to support these like-minded individuals with the tools they need to live their lifestyle.”
