Q: What are your five all-around best bass baits?
A: Jeff “Gussy”Gustafson responds: Whether I’m fishing around home on Lake of the Woods in northwest Ontario or on the Bassmaster Elite Series, where we fish across the United States, these five baits are tied on a rod in my boat at all times.
They are proven fish catchers for me:
- Ned rig consisting of Z-Man Hula StickZ, rigged on a 1 ⁄6 oz Finesse ShroomZ jig head
- Wacky rigged stick worm, on a 2/0 Gamakatsu Finesse Wide Gap Weedless hook
- Mid-range running crankbait like a Bagley Diving B1
- Suspending Jerkbait like the Shimano World Minnow
- A 5″ jerk shad style minnow imitator like the Z-Man Jerk ShadZ rigged on a ¼ oz jig (Smeltinator jig from LOTW Sports Headquarters)
