There has been a rash of shootings, but the 'gang related' shootings need to be addressed separately. Personally I tend to see gang shootings as a self-policing mechanism.

Any number regarding this issue is bad but I think yours is inflated. If you include suicide and homicide it would be around 300 but accidental is 22.

The thing with #, you can always find some that prove you right. Not sure where you get "300" though, and let not forget the injured.....

The CDC I thought was a good source for statistics. The chart I originally used was 2012 but it linked to a more current 2013 which is actually higher than 22. Still not close to a hundred. Under 14 there is approximately 300 deaths including accidental homicide and suicide. If you go up in age that number jumps in suicide and homicide but accidental is not a top ten.

Again no child deaths are good.

How do you explain that this unintentional firearm deaths don't show up on the CDC table though?

If you pay attention you will see that there is no "Unintentional firearm" death from 1 to 4 years old in any of CDC tables. From what I read, I believe that I pretty close from the reality.

When you guys start arguing about how many kids got killed your missing the main point - because some people are careless with their guns and kids get a hold of them are you trying to justify preventing 300 million people from having a gun to defend themselves if needed - there are always going to be accidents with things that people use be it a lawn mower, a car or what have you - if you really want to save lives get rid of cars or make them so they can't only go over 20 miles per hour -
