well finally got around to fixing my dishwasher this weekend... the real one... just goes to show ladies, when a man says he will do something, he will do it, you do not need to remind him every month...

    the repair:

to make a long story short, the dishwasher is now in several pieces, and the couch downstairs is now water stained... and me telling her, its her fault for making me work on it, and for putting the couch there didnt seem to help... women... anyways hopefully the new part comes in soon, and the couch drys quickly, cause i may be sleeping on it lol

Cheaper to buy new one, and easier to install then fixing old one.

3 years appears to be the lifespan for several models on the market today.

We reno'd our kitchen three years ago and I refused to put the old dishwasher back into new cupboards. Bought a Samsung at Leowes. Got extended warrantee. Spent the first year trying to get Samsung to send a repair man out on their dime. Samsung wouldn't even tell me the name of a local rep for their products. As soon as their warrantee was up they gave me a name and we called them on the extended warrantee. He was no more help than Samsung. Limped along for another year of poor rinse cycles and finally bought Fridgidaire from the appliance dealer down on the reserve where the prices are cheaper and there is no tax. Couldn't be happier...
