TBT: Fishing for winter ling
https://oodmag.com/tbt-fishing-for-winter-ling/
For often ignored angling and tasty fish, try something different this winter by fishing for burbot, or freshwater ling.
What can I but enumerate old themes,
First that sea-rider Oisin led by the nose
Through three enchanted islands, allegorical dreams,
Vain gaiety, vain battle, vain repose,
Themes of the embittered heart, or so it seems.
-- "The Circus Animals’ Desertion" by William Butler Yeats

Has too much time on their hands
Three ling on the weekend. One was a tank - 35.5 inches - Ontario record is 39 inches. Pretty sure there is a record lurking in the waters i fish.

Species, did the tank end up on the table or was it too large for eating. Just curious.

Fed 8 adults - beer battered and deep fried. Was excellent. Only keep/kill them to eat them. Not an eater than it goes back - that being said i am not picky and will eat most anything that is legal.
Having beer battered walleye tonight. Been pigging out on fish the last 5 days LOL.
