I did a bleat call on Dec 21st in 2014 & 5 does ran across the field to within 10 yards of me. I shot my first deer seconds later. ��

There’s a time and place for every tactic and technique, all it takes is the confidence to try. Through trial and error, you’ll eventually learn the right circumstances when these techniques work.

A word of advice: resist the urge to call too often and at every deer you see otherwise you risk scaring and educating them,

Other thing with calling is-if you do so,be ready that the deer will come STRAIGHT to your spot.
Mostly down wind.
Can be tricky to stay hidden or pull of a shot.

That would be fine. Deer aren’t very vocal to start with, so a continuous series of grunts and bleats would be un-natural. You want to call just enough to get them to come to you without them pinpointing your location. Also, deer calls aren’t very loud and the sounds don’t carry very far; chances are you will hear or see a deer before they hear the call.

One of my most exciting calling experiences happened while I was still hunting in Saskatchewan. While sneaking through the woods, I found some fresh tracks, then heard a deer snort up ahead of me and behind some brush. I took out my grunt call and answered with a series of tending grunts. The next thing I know, I can see the brush moving and out pops a 2 year old buck at 5 yards with his nose to the ground. Could of shot him but I was looking for a bigger buck.
