I'm aware of the the human applications of ivermectin. As your quote notes it is not an anti-viral but an anti-parasitic. As it would be highly unlikely for him to be prescribed ivermectin for his COVID-like symptoms the source of his "medication" was in all likelihood a local feed store.

Ivermectin has the same active drug ingredient for both Humans and Animals. ...different dosages...what Humans require is readily available on the internet.
