It's beginning to look like the virus was here long before anyone knew and long before anyone knew what the disease was. At first, scientists thought it was going to be SARS 2.0 until all of a sudden it would be something just as serious if not worse.. How the hell do you protect and prevent something like that? I don't care what government was in office, there's no such thing as a crystal ball.

What I would blame the gov for is the sad state of healthcare. It should have been in better shape and less people would die.

The Government is saying we have the best health care and they will handle the situation. Lol.
Always leaving it up to someone else then they can put the blame there.

Just like budgets, it will take care of itself I guess for this gov't, a LIbEral health minister says we will contain it though and they aren't even doing the basics like checking at the airport which my Doctor referred to as "concerning" .

Yep, no chance of that but if you can delay it and people are better prepared the difference could be into tens, hundreds or thousands depending on the speed it spreads, the arrival of a vaccine, the gov't making the vaccine available etc. Actions that the gov't should be taking like checking people at bottle necks like the airport and the option to quarantine a whole flight etc. are just ways to delay the spread. A vaccine is anywhere from 90 days (one Israeli company has a vaccine for respiratory illnesses that sounds interesting) to a year (most suggest that) away depending on who you listen to so if you can delay the spread even a few months... a vaccine for hotspot high risks will make a difference and well nursing homes and hospitals won't turn into a Diamond Princess cruise ship... 706 cases and 6 deaths ... hopefully

I agree that no government of any stripe can stop what it doesn’t know about, but I agree with Mosquito too. Flights from known world hotspots should have been stopped and screened. FULL STOP.
No point having spread here any quicker than it needs to !

I think the horses were long gone after the barn doors were closed. I doubt that by then,it didn't matter what any western government did, especially, after the Chinese government deliberately suppressed information long before the west ever knew about it.

Stopped.... at this point not much point... but .... BUT to not have someone checking temperatures atleast like they are in Europe is extremely irresponsible at best... Canada is at 30 according to WHO and the count is
https://www.who.int/docs/default-sou...rsn=783b4c9d_2
Globally 93 090 confirmed (2223 new) with 86 new deaths from the virus.
I mean just put some interns in a hazmat and give him a cell phone and a thermcell atleast, do something, all I have seen them do is forming a committee to talk about what to do.

When you read what China did a few months ago for the New Year...
The Chinese federal authorities have implemented similar travel warnings and restrictions in the run up to the Lunar New Year celebrations over the weekend of 25 and 26 January. Infrared thermometers have been installed at airports, railway stations, long-distance bus stations and ferry terminals.
No check in Canada ... as compared to a small Caribbean island....

The wolves/zombies etc are mostly walking in the front door of the pasture/ barn or whatever... so do we leave the door open and keep letting more in or close it atleast some and reduce the wolves/zombies coming in?

Common sense should dictate that the door be closed, for now.
