This is not an insignificant event...Apple, Google and Amazon have blocked the App for a social media service called 'Parler' .

The problem here is that freedom of speech is becoming misconstrued. The first amendment of the US constitution is where freedom of speech comes from, this is the actual text

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances"

The key here is Congress, this silencing of trumps outlets is not through congress. This is a guy using free platforms, for which he has agreed to a code of conduct and abiding by their rules, to express something that they do not want on their platforms. Is this censorship, yes, but it is through an online forum that is run by a company that decided what is being posted, not by the government.

There are other versions of social media that have grown recently that are outlets for right wing propaganda and they cannot be shut down by the government, they are also not run by an organization that does not want them there, so they remain.

People need to remember that freedom of speech only means that you cannot be prosecuted for your words, unless they incite violence, but your employer can fire your for wearing their company badge while you commit federal crimes. This forum can remove you or lock your thread if you do not abide by the rules.

So it’s ok to invite people to commit acts of treason? Trump’s manipulations of Americans through social medieval and the media in general were directly responsible for what happened and he should be held accountable. You cannot be expected to have freedoms when you break the law. Even though he only has a few days left in office, his impeachment should continue so he can be held accountable. If he is impeached he is no longer entitled to the usual perks such as a salary, secret service protection, etc.

I agree with your comments. Trump was banned from social media not by the government, but by the operators of the media platforms he uses. Not a secret that Twitter and Facebook are not Trump fans. I'm actually surprised he lasted this long before they pulled the plug on him.

I wasn't able to find it, but in it there was a fascinating quote about his propagated brain in a trial setting. It basically Illustrated that the war criminal's reality through propaganda never ever lined up with the facts.
The exact same thing can be applied today and would expose the propagated mind of an anti Trumper in a fair trial.

Free speech has limitations which includes location. Twitter, FB et al are not the public square but private companies. Just as you have the right to throw someone out of your house if he says something you deem offensive so too do these companies have the right to ban Trump or anyone else.

This is about stifling the truth not just about stifling Trump. If it was just about Trump, they wouldn't be removing all content to do with election fraud.

If there was so much election fraud we would have to look at what happened when Trump was voted in on the same system?

Well a 7 million vote difference is basically a landslide. The vote in Georgia was also pretty one sided.

There may have been some complaining when Trump was supposed to have won (even although Russia may have interfered) but there was not an insurrection and death's.

If you ask about North Korea, what did Trump do about it, not much except to suck up to their Dictator and even now they are testing more LRM's.

If Biden does nothing it will be the same as Trump's effort, except Biden will not call the dictator his good friend.

I believe banning someone from social media does not infringe upon someone's right to free speech. They can still voice their opinion, just not on certain social media sites. On the other hand, for a private company to ban someone based upon their race, colour, creed, sexual orientation, etc., is a direct human rights violation. There is no gray area in that case.

The left thought it was wonderful when terrorist groups like BLM and Antifa were causing all sorts of trouble for Trump. Anyone who thinks that they're magically going away has sawdust for brains. It will be extremely interesting to see how the Democrats react when they're on the receiving end.

I suggest you do some research on Antifa if your father fought in the war like my Grandfather did then you know 100% your father would be wondering why he bothered to even fight. He would roll over in his grave.

Hey I am not saying they had no reason to leave the US with Trump spouting off but still what Justin did was irresponsible. We are open to immigration, but we need to respect and follow the rules we have in place. If you do not follow those rules it is illegal.

They were on the receiving end on the 6th and along with their Republican friend's did not like what they got. In relation to BLM and Antifa there will be no demonstrations so long as white supremist's and fascists' are kept on a leash, so I see no reason for them to be worried.

The only part he would roll over about would be the rise of fascist after believing they were defeated in WW2.
