Has too much time on their hands
ON Issue #18 - New safety and revenue tool - in the name of safety Photoradar
Let's see... the election fraud charges had been covered before and the education changes being snuck in were new so that would be 17 ... so we can count this one as number 18.
So it is the return of Photo radar to the province in the name of safety... if used the way they are suggesting in school zones etc. I don't have much of a problem but if we see them just stuck out on every street where the average speed is 90 (in an 80 km zone) as a revenue tool then it has to get a picture of the driver too!

Photo radar devices that automatically send tickets to the owners of speeding cars will return to Ontario’s streets, Premier Kathleen Wynne announced in Ottawa Tuesday, as part of a package of changes meant to keep pedestrians and cyclists safer.
Ontario once had photo radar vans enforcing speed limits on provincial highways.
They were massively unpopular, Mike Harris ditched them when he was premier in the 1990s, and they haven’t been seen here since, though they’re common in some other provinces. (In Alberta, the city of Edmonton alone gave out 70,000 photo-radar tickets in 2014.

So far,her proposal is for school zones, only, but,we all know where this is headed, right? Most of us can, now, read the lady like a book. This "revenue tool" will be back on the roads quicker than we can blink. This government needs to resign and Wynne needs to call an election. This has gotten beyond ridiculous and she's fooling nobody.

I agree. Anyone who thinks this will be limited to only school zones is being naïve. Our premier has gone on record stating she won't bring it to the 400 series highways and we know she keeps her promises.* This will not be a small thing as she is going to allow ALL municipalities the ability to bring in photo radar if they so choose to. This is going to be a massive amount of money going to technology companies which the governments (provincial and municipal) will have to recoup at some point. The last time a large chunk of charge went to a technology company in this province was when we signed the Green Energy Act and so far that has come back and bit us in the arse. Let's not forget fines in community safe zones are doubled (a nice little bonus for the government). Photo radar has never done anything to stop the speeder in question as the vehicle gets the ticket not the operator (kind of like thinking a firearm is responsible for it's role in a crime).
* except for rolling back 407 rates and insurance premiums (stretch goals), a "net zero" fiscal plan when it comes to teacher contracts, fixing the education system, her government will be more open and transparent, and not introducing a carbon tax. (just to name a few)
