MiSAR is asking for donations for a tracking collar
Michigan Search and Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that utilizes trained K9s to locate and recover missing persons. MiSAR’s team members hail from all over the state of Michigan, as well as Canada.
WHY ARE WE ASKING FOR YOUR HELP?
MiSAR has a practice of utilizing GPS units to gauge our coverage of search areas. However, because we use trained K9s and these K9s can be far-ranging, these units are less accurate when they only track the handler.
Our desire is to purchase Garmin Astro GPS units that include collars for our K9s that will sync and send data to the handler’s hand held unit. This will enable the handler to know if the search area was truly covered by the K9, as well as give us the ability to give a more complete report to the law enforcement agencies that lead these searches.
WHAT DO WE DO?
MiSAR’s handlers, K9s and Field Support Specialists are trained in Live Find, Human Remains Detection, Trailing and Disaster, and can perform in wilderness or urban settings, day or night, on land or water, and in all weather.
Thank you.
