He didn't mean it. Let's face it, he will not be treated within the system the same as you and I. The church will arrange for a light tap on the wrist the same way they have been protecting pedophiles for decades!
I don't care that he is a priest. I see it as someone that stole, yup, this is STEALING. Go to jail... for a long time. Longer since he broke the public trust and impacted those that truly need assistance.
There is room for all God's creatures - right next to the mashed potatoes!

We had the same thing here in Ottawa - he's back as a priest, but they shuffled him off to New Brunswick.

The thing with priests is that Catholics put them on a pedestal and when they fall they make a lot louder noise than when a regular guy falls - I think one of the problems is that a priest can't get married and that results in a certain type of guy entering the priesthood - from my take on this subject is that around 35% are homosexuals - another percentage are like a bunch old ladies and the rest are real men dedicated to their chosen vocation - good honest and dedicated men - I've known some of each group
Stealing is one thing but to me the pedophile thing was inexcusable - there is nothing worse than sexually abusing a child and that's what some of them did - and then the cover up even made it worse - Jesus said that if anyone causes one of these little ones to stumble it would be better for that person that a mill stone was tied around his neck and he be casted into the sea - from what I read the Church has paid out millions to people who were abused by priests over the years - I feel sorry for the good priests who have to deal with this issue - I'm sure parents now think twice about letting their kids get too close to some priest
I was born and raised in a very strong Catholic family - went to parochial school for 10 years - but came to a point in my life when I earnestly started to read and study the bible - after doing this for about 3 years I came to the conclusion that some of the Church's doctrine didn't agree with what the bible taught - during that time I spoke to a number of priests but wasn't satisfied with their answers - praying to saints, the devotion to Mary, purgatory, salvation through works, confession to a priest were just some of the issues I had with the Catholic doctrine - I had to make a choice - follow the bible or what the Church taught - my wife and kids eventually joined a bible believing church
My sister, brother and other family members are all Catholic and very good people - they were brought up in the Church and follow the Church teachings - they pretty much wrap their lives around their Church and based on what they were taught live their lives according to its teaching - much of what it teaches is bibical but I guess when it comes to our faith everyone has to make their own decision -

I'd beg to differ. Embezzling half a million bucks donated to help refugees isn't something many people would do.
