I was just a little confused with the terms used. They said they shot it and they also used the term euthanized. I was of the opinion that euthanized was a less painfull death and if they were able to euthanize it - why couldn't they tranquilize it. But I suspect they euthanized it with a bullet. I'm not questioning the outcome - just the word euthanize being used.

    • put (a living being, especially a dog or cat) to death humanely.

And as patvetzal put it " A killing shot is instant, even the best tranquillizing drug takes a few seconds to work. A cat can travel a long way in a few seconds.....

Even the OSPCA acknowleged that the lion was "euthanized" humanely.

If a giraffe can defend itself from a lion, I don't think we would stand much of a chance. Lol! Have a nice day.
