Funny that back some years ago when carrying permits were common here in Canada, we had very few ( never heard of any) shoot outs. Of course it was only a certain class of criminal who carried handguns, the bank robbers, pro kidnappers etc. It just wasn't worth having a citizen shooting at you for small time stuff.....
