One last point she made “My dad said we should be more worried about air pollution and water pollution as this will kill humans before CC”. I love my daughter…

Good for her. just make sure to coach her on how to get good marks, debate is long dead. The David Suzuki's have almost criminalized the scientific method and proper analysis of the data. She will have to learn to pick her battles and probably always have to tell the teachers what they want to hear as compared to what is empirical or even scientifically correct . I mean look, Canada sent 383 people to Paris for the summit spending millions there and then spent about $4B to help other nations, the debate is "closed" (minds too), the gravy train is warming up.
If you want her to learn more and she is willing to sit there are some good videos on this thread including Nobel Lauriete (real ones not like a poser Kristy Duncan) and Burt Rutan from an engineers view etc.

A truthful answer to someone that doesn't care about truth only their own opinion can cause alot of problems! Being right and marks and promotions can be opposites, At one company I was appointed Senior System Analyst and long story shorty I asked how the two systems could talk using different drug identification systems. I knew they were incompatible and told them how and why I knew it, I was removed by the project manager and eventually ended up dead ended and within a year left... of course the last company meeting I attended I got to hear they had to write off the project due to "issues". I was right, I told them so bluntly (and still would but more politically correct) but being right got me nowhere and it has happened other times too. It isn't too young for her, she will need to use her head in school and starting out to sometimes give people answers they want AND other times to keep her integrity.
For example sea level rise rates that they keep siting are alot less than historical rates have been in the past...
http://www.skepticalscience.com/Past...evel-Rise.html
"Within the sea level reconstruction there are 6 periods where sea level rose rapidly, reaching rates of at least 1.2 metres per century - around 4 times the current rate of sea level rise (see Figure 1)."
and not even present in many locations.
"In an interview with Dr. Nils-Axel Mörner (head of the Paleogeophysics and Geodynamics department at Stockholm University in Sweden, past president (1999-2003) of the INQUA Commission on Sea Level Changes and Coastal Evolution, and leader of the Maldives Sea Level Project – he has been studying the sea level and its effects on coastal areas for some 35 years) by
...
he talked about the IPCC misrepresentation of sea level data: “Then, in 2003, the same data set, which in their [IPCC's] publications,... was a straight line—suddenly it changed, and showed a very strong line of uplift, 2.3 mm per year, the same as from the tide gauge... It was the original one which they had suddenly twisted up, because they entered a “correction factor,” ... I accused them of this at the Academy of Sciences in Moscow —I said you have introduced factors from outside; it's not a measurement. It looks like it is measured from the satellite, but you don't say what really happened. And they answered, that we had to do it, because otherwise we would not have gotten any trend! That is terrible! As a matter of fact, it is a falsification of the data set. ... So all this talk that sea level is rising, this stems from the computer modeling, not from observations. The observations don't find it! I have been the expert reviewer for the IPCC, both in 2000 and last year. The first time I read it, I was exceptionally surprised.

Scientists like to think they are of pure mind and soul. Right. They hated Harper because he cut back funding on mostly redundant or duplicated research that had little value to Canada's interests. Scientists often feel entitled to research grants just because they want it. Harper wasn't muzzling scientists, he just refused to bankroll useless research. A Phd is not an entitlement to lifetime employment at taxpayer expense.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

Well all those increases in research spending don't count... they were done by Conservatives....
but I hear the Liberals have a new and improved healthcare research success. :-)
