I'd say a big deer but.........when you come upon a bone(s) , sometimes anything is possible. I sometimes run my dogs in an area that used to be a dumping spot - before official dumping spot were invented. Amazing what is under the ground there. Once found the almost entire skeleton of a horse.

Never seen a deer butchered in front of me so I have nothing to compare it to. Just looked too large to me (to be a deer) as I can't wrap my hand around it.

It's got a spinal or sacral look to it.
Likely deer based on size.
Can you show at least two more views. The one you've shown has no symmetry. Maybe pieces have broken off but to be sure of location in the spinal column and to judge animal size, a view of the side that is "down" and another of the "away" side would help.

I dropped it off at the cottage on the weekend so, until I get back up there, that's the only photo I have.

That looks to be a lumbar vertebrae from a deer. The blade like part is called the spinous process and points upward. That is where muscle attachment occurs. The round part is the body and points towards the ground. You will find this type of vertebrae behind the ribs but in front of the pelvis.

Any idiot can see it's from a Samsquantch. Sheesh. You call yourselves outdoors people?
Learn all you can about nature. What we don't understand, we fear and what we fear, we destroy.
Teach a young person to hunt and fish, after all, someone taught you.

That is why I asked, sizes can vary greatly.
I was once waiting for first light during turkey season and smelt something off, well when the sun rose I realized I was about 5 yards from a cow that was dumped in the bush, you never know what it out there.
