Antlerless deer tag transfer????
Just wondering if anyone has any insight or past experiences in regards to transferring a deer tag??
A good friend and hunt camp member , only 50 years old passed away suddenly a short time ago. He had already applied for his doe tag and he was successful in the draw.
Not the tag/ money or not being able to use it that is an issue. I just thought if it could be transferred over to his 16 year old son, and he could fill it for his dad it might be nice little remembrance token in years to come.
I haven't mentioned this to him or his mother or contacted the ministry yet. Curious as to any other similar scenarios someone might know of.
Thank you, bushman.

Sorry for your loss Bushman. As far as the transfer, I don't think there is any chance of that. I have never heard of anything like that being an option. You should call the MNRF, but I wouldn't hold out much hope !

I am not sure if it can be done but it's a very nice thing you are trying to do...

Thanks rick!! I have never heard of it either and don't hold much hope of it happening. I was just curious as to whether anyone had ever been down this path before I call the mnrf.

Deer tags are not transferable, in fact it's an offense to have someone else's Unfilled tag in your possession. You can party hunt them but unfortunately that won't work in your situation.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

Has too much time on their hands
I have never heard about being able to transfer deer tags. I don't think this will be possible as the son is 16 and can legally have a hunting license (including being eligible to be entered in the antlerless draw). Don't get me wrong, I hope something can be worked out but don't hold your breath as the CO's/admin staff may well have their hands tied. Give them a call (actually call the area office you guys are hunting in) and see what their response is. You may have to show proof of death (service card, etc) and have his outdoors card number as well.

Thanks everyone for the replies and condolences!!
I called the mnr and pretty much as we figured, nothing can be done in regards to a transfer. They did however inform me that his widow can be reimbursed for any and all remaining fishing and hunting licenses and outdoors card.
Again, thank you all.
