I did not realize that the password for Windows was not the same as the log in password for 7 or 8 but was the password for Windows Live (or any Windows email account). So when rebooting I got the "failure to load" error and offered 6-7 different solutions to the error BUT none worked unless you knew you password! I could not remember mine...called puter guru friend of mine...he came over...no success!!!!! Was facing a format of the hard drive and I was crying. Just before I reformatted I decided to try every password I had used and saved for every site that I had used one on...finally got the one that worked!!!!! Told Windows 10 to put puter back to original state...it did. Be sure you know your Microsoft mail password before you upgrade!
what password are you talking about? i never not once got asked for ANY password.. started the upgrade... went to bed.. woke up and it was working..

Ah, no password needed IF there were no troubles loading the new software. BUT if there was a problem you need your Windows Live password to access the "problem solving" pages etc to fix.

I've now installed it on my daughter's dell inspiring netbook.. no hitch at all.. only thing I found D on both installs is the "UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 10" app doesn't work.. had to run the upgrade through the windows update program. .
