Albertans no brighter than Ontarians
Looks like they are about to boot out the PC's in Alberta. These people are pizzed at the PC party for imposing a bunch of taxes to make up lost oil revenues. But get this, they are going to replace them with the NDP !!!! Isn't that like bringing a keg of beer to an AA meeting?
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

They spent money like a drunk at the bar for over 30 years with no consideration for a slowdown in the oilfields.
The right might split their vote but the real chance of the ndp governing is very unlikely but it would be amusing to watch from the outside.
Make sure you have finished speaking before your audience has finished listening.

It's more like asking the mice to guard the cheese. That distant rumble they heard was Ralph Kline rolling over in his grave. I'm sure the NeeDeePers will roll back those taxes, wont they? I'll bet they shut down the Oil Sands, too, huh? Man,this country is some screwed, now, isn't it?
OK,so,it's an NDP majority, like it's deja vu all over again. Remember when Ontarians threw caution to the wind and elected Bob Rae? Holy Crap!

Has too much time on their hands
Oh taxes will be going up, they have said they would raise corporate taxes, personal taxes and probably add carbon fees etc. but Prentice made Hudak look like a genius! He assumed he could just pull off a quick election before the Wildrose rebuilt itself after the floor crossing idiocy and is paying for it. The people were ticked and wanted a change and Wildrose was unprepared and now the people will pay for it, in big dollars. The NDP has won several times now in Manitoba....and of course if you look their per capita debt is 25% higher than Ontario. Well one consolation for the practical minded, the Liberals are getting one seat atleast.
NDP will plunge Alberta into the abyss: O'Leary

Yeah... but the first 3 years the NDP in Ontario just sat and looked at each other and said... now what??, I doubt we will see that there. Also Bob Rae had the guts to try and solve some of the problems and spending and had an aversion to layoffs as the easy solution.... I wouldn't want them back in power but they did much better than the Liberals under McGunity and Wynne have done, mostly because they didn't have a clue what to do and didn't rush into any decisions, they were unprepared at best. Most of the NDP is probably clueless in Alberta too but it seems like the leaders are ready to lead the way...... into the Abyss perhaps.

Did anyone see BNN today they had Buzz Hardgrove on there talking about the auto industry jobs leaving Canada...usual, blame gov't, need a committee... and when asked who he would pick to run it one of his choices was McGunity.... and of course he made know that he was available to help any level of gov't..

Prentice was right, Albertan's are to blame... Too much spending, too low taxes and on top of that dependant on an expensive volatile resource, thats near future(10-20yrs) may not be too bright... With renewables surpassing conventional power for the first time in history last year and battery technology moving fast. Expensive oil sands oil will be the first to go, that window is shrinking.
But I don't see how any government can fix that... They definately need some sales tax, living without any is delusional and a fantasy for people who don't know how government works. They have a bigger deficit then us, per capita. Regardless of the government, unless oil goes back over 80$/barrel fast(60$ now), don't see much good happening there anytime soon... Alberta was already predicted to a recession this year at -2% growth compared to our +3%.
Truly shocked how bladly the Torries got pounded, even combined with the Wild Rose, they were still below. NDP majority gonna wake up tommorow and this was all a dream...

I'd disagree with that on a couple of counts. One - people that left Ontario for jobs in Alberta are for the most part from conservative backgrounds. They're looking for good wages and not worrying about hard work. They're not looking for government handouts and government jobs. Two - some of your most conservative Albertans are those from Ontario/Quebec who have seen what poor governments can do to a province, and have left that behind. They don't want Alberta to become the next Quebec/Ontario.

My take on this election is that it was a protest vote against the Conservatives - the early election call, the Wild Rose back room deals and the Alison Redford scandal. Prentice was an idiot to call an early election with that much hanging over his head. He and his cronies got what they deserved. Based on that I see the Albertan voters as being a lot smarter than Ontario. They made it known to their government that they were not happy. I wish Ontarians would have had the cajones to do this to the Liberals.
I don't think anyone in Alberta sees this as an endorsement of NDP policies - just a necessary protest vote.

Redford was nothing more than an entitled, condescending Liberal who managed to infiltrate the PC's - hey if you can't beat them join them! I can only imagine the migraine Smith has this morning - 'Why, oh why, oh why did I endorse Jim?'
You can bet that the business elite in Alberta will be paying the Notley Crew a visit and reading her the riot act. This will be a one and done experiment.
