Sometimes, not sure if it's a person needing leak a little bit, which I have "no issues with", don't "look down on men for it". "Talk therapy" is one of the best things a person can do, sadly most men keep things close to the vest which also leads to heart attacks and more (so outdated and manly man). I learned that lesson when I was 18 and in a group home .
Or simply talking about life experiences. Most people if they have lived life, have skeletons or have been through things. Society these days is so screwed up and backwards. We go through our daily lives, put on these false faces "Hi Bob, how are you today". Bob answers "Oh man, what a great weekend, I washed my BMWer, the wife and I did this or that, my kids..so proud of them, look how great they are, look how great my life is.
Meanwhile Bob just found out he has a tumor, he's worried about paying the bills and one of his kids smoking dope like a fiend and marks are dropping, or his brothers wife is having an affair, or….
I've lived a colorful life. I'll go to my grave with no regrets, I've lived, I've faced some crap many only ever hear about ( How many people do you actually know who 8 weeks before surgery to remove a nasty tumor when they don't know if they will be alive the next x-mas come home the storybook "dear John/Empty home" and whose ex is still with her boss .
I've spent a night in emerge wondering if my youngest would survive the night.
And much more.
Sharing experiences imo, just lets other people know they are normal, and we are all Bozo's on the bus of life.

"we are all Bozo's on the bus of life." J Ben
I love that! So true.

Or a welcomed distraction, like a fishing or hunting invite

Exactly
And frankly this old school mentality of making people "feel guilty" or "ashamed" or or their weak and men don't do that…that somehow that their lives aren't so perfect, to say or talk about things that aren't rosy. Especially for men..See why women live longer, don't have as many heart attacks and more.
We are all just bozo's on the bus. Some like Bob...

Sadly one thing that we can all relate to is the lost of a loved one or a great friend/neighbor. It's the cruel reality of life. The support of the Community here is great.
My dad passed away this past January in his 68th year and the support of my neighbors, co-workers, friends and some of the members here (that knew about it) was a tremendous help in getting through it (although I am not even close to being over it -- this spring with sale of his car and going through his tools in the garage will be tough).
One day at a time as they say. Hold those you care about a little closer because you never know when you won't be able to.
Hang in there FS and take comfort in knowing that a community of friends here are there for you if you need to vent or get things off your mind.

I am not expecting to have too tough of a time selling the car or some of his larger tools. I told mom I would take care of the posting and dealing with the people.
Anything we can't sell I will take to Habitat for Humanity re-store and donate it.
