No. You get a registration number with your name on it at time of purchase. This is what you must supply to the instructor when you write your test. If the names don't match. No go.

I just ordered DVD 10 April and got it the 14th of April. Watched it twice, I did learn and thought it was a very good training video. A key point for me was sexes (did not know difference), bag limits per season, but most importantly the safety, never gave a thought to 90% of safety points shown in the video. As for the test....no brainer, dead simple...too easy. For the test, I checked around Ottawa who was running PAL/HSC and just showed up at end of second day at 4PM, paid $20.00 +HST and took 5 minutes to complete test. The $20.00 was to pay store, this can be avoided if you Skype or meet instructor at his place (apparently)

Correct, there should be no additional costs to taking your test, after you have bought and paid for the DVD, the cost of the test is included in the fee.

Call up an instructor after watching the DVD and being able to answer all 25 questions (the same 25 are on the test, just in different format) show up and write.

Kind of silly to me that they just don't have the video's online and you just pay them say $5 less rather than shipping a DVD. I got my DVD quite awhile ago and used the OHEP page to send the local testers emails and haven't got any responses. Has anyone got a response using email?

Never used the email. Picked one. Called. Wrote test next day.

The money does go back to the federation, which I like.

I have tried that, only two are actually local and one phone number doesn't take incoming calls and the other I left a message and haven't heard back.


They did most of the introduction/release work so it makes sense for this and other projects but I think it would be much better to have the videos online and just phone and pay to get the number or email for the instructor. Zoom done.


P.S.

Finally got email back, no response from the one I called. Hopefully I can schedule a time with him tomorrow or Sunday afternoon.
