Pop up tent trailer questions?
Hey guys, I am going to be in the market for a good quality used pop up tent trailer in the next year or so. I have a few questions regarding them as I have never owned one before. Are the most popular sizes usually 10-12 feet long box? What size beds do you usually get with this, King, Queen? So can you uaually get a full kitchen with fridge, stove and sink? I am looking for a quality unit that has alot of simplicity in its design. Are there good Canadian companies to target on the used market that I can get parts or service should I need it?
I figured there are enough outdoors people on this forum there has to be some campers that know alot about tent trailers. Thanks

You won't find any Canadian companies, but people like Coleman have an extensive dealer network.
Quite frankly there are so many choices that it would be hard to recommend where to start.
Many start with something small and inexpensive, no toilet, portable stove, cooler chest etc then work their way up. That was the route we went, but back then there was not a lot of choice in the used market.
Now you can buy a ten year old Bonaire, Coleman, etc that has all the goodies built in. Just make sure that you can tow it with your vehicle.
We normally changed to oversized wheels, twin batteries, etc and then headed up some hydro line for backwoods camping. If you are just going to a park, then you can go with a standard factory unit.
The bed size and options increase with the price of the new units, some even have A/C. What you find used will depend on luck and how big a hurry you are in.

There's a few dealers around your area. Take some time and visit as many as you can. With the economy being what it is,you shouldn't have trouble finding good used units. Pay extra attention to the mechanics of the units. There's nothing worse than having a broken crank cable or bad wheel bearings when you're far from home. I've qwned both Starcraft and Coleman over the years and I've had good luck with them.
