    Default Dead Meat

Watched an interesting program on TV this afternoon - it was on for a couple hours - on the Sportsman channel - the program is called Dead Meat - a guy went to different parts of the country and either trapped, caught, or shot different birds, animals, and fish - ones that are not universally eaten - he went out with some locals to get the creatures and then had a local cook it up - he and others ate the creatures and told what they thought of the food -

He ate crows (said it tasted like veal when hammered and not cooked to much), beaver(liked it very much but had to be sure that it was cooked well done) -muskrat, rattle snake, raccoon, coots, Canadian geese(made burger and cooked like beef) - snow geese, squirrel, pigeons, wild hog(cooked a young one and it tasted like domestic pork) - suckers, paddle fish, frog legs - It was interesting to see how the different one were cooked - I really enjoyed watching the program -

I guess no one has to go hungry because just about every animal, bird and fish can be eaten - the secret to make it taste good is to know how to cook it - a lot of the food is eaten by people that live in different parts of the country - they actually sell a lot of these animals in the local stores -

Sounds like an interesting show. Aside from certain insects, amphibians and fish most else can be consumed. Crow would be one thing off your list that I would have to be awful hungry to tackle.
How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?

Squirrel, coons, groundhogs, beaver, froglegs, turtle, pigeons, suckers, wild onions, watercress, would all appear on our table in days gone by.....
