While voter Apathy played (plays) a large role in Ontario Trimmer, the dynamics around that aren't the same, federally as they are provincially. In a nut shell loosely speaking.

    1) Buying the GTA, with its concentration of ridings ( don't have to spread the love as far/wide)
    2) Buying the Union support (see buying GTA)
Are far more effective when combined with the apathy we see both in Ont/Federally.

But federally speaking the first two aren't as prevalent/possible.
Think Harper could get a majority if he won every seat in Sask/Alta, or JT every seat in Que and nothing else?

Thats what we have in Ont, that you will never see federally. Toronto has always been a Liberal bastion. When Rae lost the Unions, and after Mcguinty lost twice he figured it out. Easy peasy, its a "numbers" game.

Winning one concentration of ridings federally, and little else might get you, the opposition (see Layton taking Que) but….Politics here in Ontario are very different.

Actually I was just speaking to my brother yesterday who lives in Quebec city and he was telling me that there is definite sign of life for Harper in Quebec right now. The Quebecers hate everything about Muslims and the obvious pandering to them by Trudough is losing him support there. It is now basically a 3 way split in Quebec with Harper/Mulcair/Trudough. Wasn't that long ago that Harper would have a hard time coming in dead last. That can translate into a bunch of seats that Trudough felt were his being very much at play. In fact with a horse race like that you could see more seats go Conservative in Quebec than there has been in years. The Maritimes will never detach themselves from the Liberals but if seat rich Quebec and Ontario start splitting votes then Harper could pull it off. The Atrocities committed daily by ISIS and Putin looking like he is losing his mind more and more scares people. When they are scared they look to strong leaders. Trudough ain't that guy.

Even with those numbers it's a coin toss but a majority isn't shown by those numbers.
Things can sure change between now and the election.
Yep. There is an eternity between now an October. And they will all try to peak at that time. That's when the rhetoric will be torqued to max.

And never underestimate a Conservative's ability to shoot themselves in the foot during a campaign.

No no,that was Hudak and provincial politics. Harper has exceedingly tight controls on his federal caucus. They'll stay the course as world events spiral out of control, way over the head of JT and Cryin' Tom who seem to only spin their wheels with silly rhetoric.

It's really too early to tell. They are practically tied. I think it'll be a matter of who screws up more and whose voters come out to the polls that will affect the final outcome.

CBC worked hard for Wynne to win (her words) and you can bet that CBC will now pull out all the stops without Sun saying where they are wrong.

Justin must be very happy Sun is gone, no more real questioning and CBC must be ecstatic, no more hard questions for J.T. and they don't have to worry about correction.

There are people that will believe it just because CBC is saying it and CBC wants Justin in power to increase their funding........between now and October they will be at full rant. Just look at the CBC on the new firearm legislation saying the NFA wants to legalize semi-automatic firearms (duh) and the Liberal party rants on the changes to the authorization to transport and people bringing them to ball games etc.

What did i miss? I heard only SNN closed down... the papers are still operating and thus most of the Sun "talent" is still working.

All that's lost is a crappy network with crappy programming. Their reporters are still reporting. And really, tv networking is not the way of the future, Sun News is doing a decent job of building their online video content and if they focus on growing that they'll do fine.

I feel my blood pressure go up when Mulcair speaks on how he always seems to think he has uncovered some sort of scandal on the Conservative government. He cannot keep his composure and goes off on crazy silly rants. Prime Minister Stephen Harper stands up very calmly and gives him the facts and quickly puts out the fire Mulcair has tried to start. We need to continue with the level headed Prime Minister we have and stay away from these wacky unstable leaders of the opposition.
