My review on the Savage 42 (.22wmr/.410)
I've used this gun for a few years now and finally got a decent optic on it last year to put it to some good use.

To start off with the cons; it's made out of cheap plastic, the iron sights are the worst I've ever used, the barrels are rarely aligned, it has a fixed IC choke, and the front guard is not free floating. All that and it's $700 which is ridiculously over priced.
The pros; the .410 can reliably take out a rabbit at 25 yards without doing damage up close, the .22mag makes up for the lack of range in the .410 by being able to hit rabbits out to 100 yards, it collapses in a split second and tucks away easily.
It's a great rabbit/grouse gun but just a terribly manufactured gun. I looked at other options like the Chiappa/TPS M6 but it runs into the same problems apart from having a decent peep sight and option for chokes. If there were much better options then I would be rating this gun A LOT lower.

I love my 42 with the Evolution rail mount and a cheap Truglow 33mm dot. 22lr/410 non take down. I paid less than $400.
