A challenge with creating more/new manufacturing jobs is who is going to work there? The last of the baby boomers are retiring and families are smaller. Kids these days have very different interests. Most modern plants have smaller work forces, so who will they hire? Most skilled workers already have jobs. Unfortunately the fate of unskilled workers isn’t promising unless they overcome barriers.

IMO the main problem facing Canada and the US is the breakdown of the family unit including the watering down of morals and values. Fix the family and other problems like crime and drug addiction should subside.

If anyone thinks Trump is going to bring back more car plants, steel mills and factories, they are stuck in the 1960’s. Times have changed. China and India are set to be the next economic superpowers and it’s too late to stop them.

My final observation is that the US spends billions on the “war on drugs” but only a pittance on addiction and prevention. Too close to socialism??

Couldn’t agree more Sam, we’ll see what the people who voted for Trump have to say after his first 3 months in office.
