No challenging Sam-and i may sound clueless, why it is so important to"spare"big mature old bulls?

After all ,if there is no 5.5-8.5-10.5 year old bulls around,the mating will be done by a somewhat younger bulls.

That’s a great question. The old bulls are proven survivors and breeders, thus (theoretically) possessing better genes. Also having older animals in the herd helps to maintain social structure and order. Research is just now showing the importance of having well balanced social structure in moose and deer herds.
