That thick area will pay off a little later in the season when the deer start feeling the hunting pressure.
I got out for my first sit last Tuesday. Climbed a big oak at the corner of woods and 3 ag fields. Some does stepped out of the timber around 6pm and then my target buck showed himself in the corn with 15mins of legal light left. With 7 mins of legal left he stepped out of the corn into the beans beside me, at 30+ yards. Out of my range, but an exciting first sit nonetheless. Was hoping to go back to that spot but the wind and my schedule haven't allowed it.

Nice. I have a positive attitude and that helps me get through the many deerless days ahead... lol

I put up a new ladder stand on a known travel route Saturday afternoon and I ended up sitting in it for the last hour of hunting. Putting up a ladder stand by yourself is a lot of fun. lol

2 does came by and one offered me a shot. Unfortunately, I misjudged the distance and shot just under her. Ugg! well on the Brightside she wasn't injured, and I still have 2 archery tags. lol

Pretty good though for a new stand location me thinks.

I am going to put out some yardage markers, so I'll be ready next time.
