Default Video: Scooping Up a Match Set of Antlers (Ottawa)

    Hello All,
Headed out on a shed antler adventure early yesterday afternoon prior to the arrival of a snowstorm. With between 40 and 50km's of hiking done in the last six weeks, it's definitely been a slow start to the season.
Made my way to a favourite spot - a thick cedar tract of forest bordered by a large swamp. Within five minutes of arriving I spotted a beauty match set from 50 feet away.
Laying less than two feet apart, this buck either shed them while bedded down or they dropped while he worked his way along the trail.
My first thought while filming is they were fresh, as neither had a single chew mark and the base and tines were free of stains or bleached. After a second look, they are last year's antlers but just in pristine shape.
This is my sixth or seventh match set but I'd say my largest and heaviest to date. Definitely makes those miles of walking worth it in the end!
    Ottawa

    Cheers,
    Justin

Congrats on finding a great set. I hunted them for years when younger and only found singles. You need great eyes to find them in those conditions with snow on the ground.
