Has too much time on their hands
2023 Deer camp report.
The 2023 deer rifle season has more or less come and gone for our camp. Personally i was at camp for 4 days from Monday to Thursday. I actually did not hunt that much as i was focused on repairing damage to the camp after a break-in late October. Spent a large chunk of my time re-building our solar/wind power system from scratch for the most part. Installed 400 watts of solar panel, reconnected the 400 watt windmill, reconnected the charge controller and installed 300 amp-hours of solar deep cycle battery. Also wired up a 2000 watt pure sine inverter for the non 12 volt loads. Also installed new door hardware. Was not overly bothered as i already filled a tag last week with the crossbow and am perfectly happy to sit on my remaining tag as an excuse to get out of the house when i feel like it (which as i get older seems to be more frequent - LOL).
I did manage to get out Tuesday morning and evening. Wednesday morning got out but passed on the pm with the freezing rain. Thursday morning the alarm went and i went out to relieve myself and it was +1 and pouring rain so said fook that and went back to bed. Got out Thursday pm as well. Only deer i saw for the week was a beauty 8 pt Thursday morning at 11:30 am on a trip to the outhouse. He was 5 yards behind the crapper and we saw each other at about the same time. Needless to say he bolted. Note to self - in the future bring my rifle and approach all outhouse pitstops in stealth mode during shooting light.
My BIL and nephew both filled tags with a spike on Wednesday morning and a doe on Thursday morning:

Good food, good stories and good whiskey. Can't complain.

to bad about the damage, but good for you guys getting some deer and seeing some. I learned that lesson many years ago to never leave the gun behind in legal hours.

Thanks for the report and the photos. Hopefully, next year, the chores will be out of the way and you can get out in the woods more. Take care.

My question is: Did you still need to use the poop shack after you saw the nice buck beside it?
