Lardass the bear
thumperrs4.jpgthumperrs2.jpgthumperrs1.jpg
This boar is capable of eating nine 40lb beaver carcasses per night. His poops will almost fill a five gallon pail. This is Lardass in May, just coming out of hibernation. Last year he fell asleep in a heap of apples after eating all the winter wheat off my deer plot. I'm wondering if he would go close to 550-600lbs in the fall.

I agree Sab. There would be no point in harvesting it as it would be one big marbled ball of fat. You’d never be able to trim all the fat off when butchering. There’s nothing worse than a mouthful of bear fat. I’m happy to keep him around for the amusement factor. I’m trying to imagine how much he weighed last October as it was a “0ne in thirty year” apple crop at our place. It was around November 30 last year before he stopped showing up on the camera. He’d lay down and fall asleep on the apple bait pile. What a character!

That's a big bear to be running around in the wild. I'd only expect to see a bear like that at a dump.
