Zone 11 Muskie Opener 2023
So buddy and myself decided to hit a lake for a multi species day. Hit different locations on the lake that hold bass and muskie. While hitting a spot I know where some good bass hang out. I got a hard hit and felt some really good weight on the line. The rod had a really good bend it in so knew it was no bass on the line. As it got closer to the boat, well well. Mr. Muskie came out to play. Had to play it smart a few times but was able to get it into the boat and released within 5 minutes. Was 36 inches long. My second only muskie I landed but did miss my third that day too.

Nice looking Muskie. Lots of fun to catch, if they don’t snap your line.

Came close to that once. It went under my boat and the rod was bent over really good too. So I hit the line release on my baitcaster and thumbed the drag so it made a run which helped big time.

Nice! What kind of lure did it hit and what kind of line did you have on the baitcaster? braid?

I was using 20lb braid on my baitcaster. Usually do not go under that for my baitcasters or even my spinning reels when using braid. I was using a Storm 360gt search bait white 4.5inch long.
