Almost 50 years ago I got my Chauffeurs class drivers license but took the course through Young Drivers of Canada as it saved a pile of money on the insurance. Great course and I still practice what they preached every time I get behind the wheel and have not had an "at fault" accident to date, not to say that some shmucks haven't hit me but my records clean. I swear people nowadays think driving is like breathing... you just do it, right ? No thought process whatsoever in care and control of tons of metal and plastic that could cause the most horrific of things you will ever witness.

Did my road test in the middle of a snow storm in Jan 1987. In my Dad's '78 Nova - some extra winter weight in that car and it would go just about anywhere. They took me out and cancelled all tests after me. Managed to get stopped for all lights and stop signs without sliding through and when parallel parking the examiner opened his door and said "If I could see the curb I'd say your close enough". Things were a little more relaxed back then I'd say.
