    Default Too Much Snow

It’s been a weird winter up in the Lakehead region. We got a big dump of snow (2’+) just before Christmas, then a little bit here and there afterwards. Last week, we got walloped again with an another 2’ of snow. We got another 5” yesterday. Our streets are narrow and snowbanks are high… reminds me when I was a kid. Unless it warms up, we are going to have snow in the woods come the May long weekend. I’m sick of winter!!

Thankfully, the deer camp didn’t get as much snow as last year, so there should be a few of them around come November.

Talked to folks up my way in Bancroft and they are saying about a foot of snow in the bush and a little less in the fields. I think the deer will be pretty good as the temperatures have been OK this year and they seem to be moving around.

I'm in the New Liskeard area, and while the temps have been about normal, the snowfall has been below average. The snowmobile season didn't really get started until the end of January, although it has been good since. From what I've seen in town today, it looks like all the southerners are up trying to get in their last ride in for the year, although we are now under a snowfall warning for up to 8" tomorrow. I think when spring decides to stay, it won't take long for the snow to disappear, as has been the case the last couple years.
